When
ForestWind Queens are ready to kitten, they retreat to the nursery, a
cosy room with warm baskets and dens for birthing and raising baby kittens.
Our
Queens are either home bred here at ForestWind, or directly imported from Russian championship lines. They are selected for
conformation to the standard, strong health, genetic diversity, and
loving, gentle personalities. We have two breeding focii: A Traditional Golden Line, and our newer Aboriginal Siberian Line.
Queens are playful their entire lives. We
believe this is due to their role in raising and training kittens. If
you are looking forward to an active, playful cat, even as an adult,
you will want to consider adopting a female kitten.
We are retiring our original girls, and worked with a collaborative group to import aboriginal Siberians who developed from eastern Siberia. Our new girls were hand carried by Maria of CICA cattery, from whom we owe a very large debt for helping guide us towards working with pure Foundation/aboriginal lines. Her husband, George, hand carried our Flashka Adagio from Moscow this spring.

Cirkumpolare Gostimira with her gorgeous babies.
Gostimira was born in Norway from rare foundation lines bred to a strong Moscow line.
Thank you to Cathrine and Dag for this super affectionate girl who is a wonderful mother and loving cat!

Flashka is an incredible girl. She is pure Siberian, never crossed to colorpointed cats.
She was hand carried from Moscow to New York by George of CICA. And then Carol and her son drove her from Long Island to western NY. After all this travel, she arrived purring and confident after her long trip! She has continued to be an exceptional delight - she gets along well with ALL the other cats, mothers the kittens, and keeps our Lab Puppy in line! We can't wait to meet her kittens in 2009!

ForestWind Karolina Hugonova ny 23 Our sweet Karolina is outgoing, loving, and full of energy. She is the first golden we have bred who has the proper coat. we are also pleased with her head conformation. In the above photo she is only six months old, we are eager to learn how she matures over the next three or four years!
Photos coming of our newly imported Foundation Queens / Queens to Be:
Belka, a cream silver Foundation Queen to be, currently visiting Branchriver cattery in New Hampshire.
They are selected for
conformation to the standard, health, and loving, gentle, and playful
personalities.
Our ForestWind Studs are part of the family. Non spraying boys "live out" in the house, and our "hosers" join the family daily for play time, cuddling, and combing to keep their gorgeous coats at their peak!
The right stud is very hard to find. Since a boy will share his genetic makeup, looks, and temperament with many more kittens than a girl will, it is essential that the addition to the Siberian Cat breed be carefully considered. Boys are selected for health, temperament, conformation to the FIFE standard, genetic diversity, and the original large size, and pairing with our sweet Queens.
We
do offer our boys at stud to Traditional and Aboriginal Siberian catteries interested in protecting and
expanding the genetic diversity of the Siberian Forest Cat. If you are
a dedicated breeder -- perhaps with limited room for housing multiple
males permanently --who is interested in stud service from one of our
sweet, healthy males, you can easily contact us at SweetSiberians@aol.com

With many thanks to Elena Gorenmova of Rossity Cattery, Moscow, Russia for our very first boy!

Stud to be, ForestWind Wyatt, age 6 months in photo.
This is a sweet photo of Karat, our giant golden boy, at home in
Alberta at only five 1/2 months. He is the son of two Moscow imports: ForestWind stud Feodor Vemas, a
gorgeous Valenvic golden, imported from Russia and bred to Jorrah's Queen, Eva
So Foxy Onix Gloria. This boy is HUGE! He will be returning home, and taking the place of his father, when "Theo" retires next year. Here is a photo of Karat in July. Not even two, and quite the armload!
